‘Fabrizio Romano’ says Chelsea will go head-to-head with FC Bayern over de Ligt

In this summer’s transfer window, Matthijs de Ligt has been the subject of an intense transfer tussle. During the last few weeks, his name has jumped into headlines, and Chelsea and FC Bayern Munich are reportedly willing to pay a record sum to secure him from Old Lady.

The Dutch defender is especially urgent for Chelsea, as Toni Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen have left the club this summer. Tuchel is looking to re-map their defensive line, and Matthijs de Ligt is at the top of his list.

According to tranfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will go down the wire to clinch de Ligt from Juventus. Thomas Tuchel is said to be a big fan of the Dutch defender and sees him as a big future of the southwest London club.

After Juventus rejected the player exchange plus money idea, the blues have been in direct contact with the club and are preparing their first official offer.

Moreover, Romano has admitted that the former Ajax starlet is overwhelmed by Chelsea’s interest and is prepared to move to London. However, Chelsea only has to worry about Bayern Munich’s interest.

De Ligt is also being pursued by FC Bayern, but Chelsea isn’t ready to give up easily, according to Romano.

He said, “Chelsea are still there for De Ligt. They haven’t given up.” in his podcast named “Here We Go”.

Romano further added,“ Thomas Tuchel wants him and Todd Boehly is negotiating. We’ll see when the new proposal will arrive from Chelsea but they’re preparing a bid.

“Bayern are also in the race. They know De Ligt is really tempted by the prospect of leaving Juventus this summer.”

When it comes to Matthijs de Ligt, he has been a regular figure at Juventus despite having Chiellini and Bonucci around. He was signed in 2019 with a big eye on the future, but the move hasn’t turned out to be the best one for him.

According to reports from Italy, Matthijs de Ligt wants to fight for titles and is open to exploring his options with other teams. The Juventus player played 31 games in Serie A last season and was the only bright spot during a disappointing season.
