Think India have found their Zaheer Khan: Ex-Pak cricketer

Arshdeep Singh

Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal is all praise for Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh.

Since making his debut in IPL 2019, Arshdeep Singh has been making heads turn with his accurate bowling. Backed by his IPL 2022 success, the pacer made it to the Indian team. He bagged seven wickets in the series against West Indies. He played in the Asia Cup where he was taken for runs. However, the youngster bounced back well in the 1st T20I against South Africa where he removed three batters at the top.

His spell reduced South Africa to 9/5 in the powerplay. He ended with three for 32 on a tough pitch in Thiruvananthapuram.

“I think India have found their new Zaheer Khan,” Akmal said.

Talking about Arshdeep’s performance, Kamran Akmal said that he is an incredible bowler and also compared him with former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan.

Arshdeep Singh is an incredible bowler. I think India have found their new Zaheer Khan,” Akmal said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

He also explained why Arshdeep Singh’s bowling has been excellent recently.

“Arshdeep has both, pace and swing, and he has that bowling intelligence. He’s mentally strong and knows his abilities, and uses them according to the conditions,” he explained.

He also added that Arshdeep Singh is intelligent and also has shown maturity.

“He first got Rilee Rossouw caught-behind, and then castled De Kock. But the best wicket was that of David Miller because he kept getting the ball to move away from him before bowling a sharp inswinger to bowl him out. He bowls brilliant and he is mature, has pace and is still young. It’s a good sign for Team India because they needed a left-armer after Zaheer Khan,” he added.

Notably, Arshdeep Singh has managed to make it to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He is likely to start in the playing eleven if Jasprit Bumrah isn’t available for the World Cup.
